Doctors at the clinic had suggested her death was due to a a heavy dose of anaesthetic and her operation is believed to have been a result of her parents wish to preserve her chastity.., Since then the Egyptian establishment has moved to close a final loop-hole in their legislation which had allowed a practise which has been common since Pharonic times to continue.
