Well apparently they were serious when Bush Jr. stated "that if you're not for us, you're against us". Implying if you don't support the U.S./U.K. war machine shredding lives in the Middle East & Afghanistan, you must be with the Jihadists and their pathetic mimicry of car, backpack and body bomb responses to the B52's, F 16's and cruise missiles. These guys obviously have not heard of the old anarcho saying "If they give you two options - always choose the third!"

I was departing Ireland after a week of visiting friends and attending the "Route Irish" launch. http://www.indymedia.ie/article/84775
I bought a copy of The Guardian at Dublin airport. I'm usually a daily communicant of the Guardian when living in Ireland or England, because we have such pathetic newspapers in Australia. I went to Shannon airport at about 8.15 am this morning.

Last Wednesday the Tehran regime marked Halloween with some more union bashing. This document to Respect members marks the definite division of Respect and the end of Respect as it has been heretofore. Almost all the non-Socialist Workers Party members of the Respect National Council have called this Conference. It coincides with the scheduled Respect Conference which the signatories have claimed has been packed by the SWP and would be pointless to attend.

Readers interested in balanced and detailed information on the crisis in Respect (the broad leftwing Unity Coalition in England and Wales) since August are referred to the 'Socialist Unity' blog.

Though it looks like much can be salvaged from the old Respect, it is a shame that yet another attempt at the development of a new left appears to have fallen foul of left sectarianism. ... read full story / add a comment
