I attended last nights vigil outside the cathedral. While there I got a copy of what appears to be a statement from the Afghan's probably released near the start of the occupation as it refers to 33 Afghans (this number rose to 41 within hours). As this doesn't seem to be online I've typed it in below - it certainly nails some of the lies being told and it is important that there words are circulated. I've also included a couple of photos from last night. ... read full story / add a comment

"Interference by the major powers for more than two decades has plunged Afghanistan into being one of the most violent and disturbed countries on Earth. on the first of May, Evo Morales, president of Bolivia nationalised the "sub soil" hydro-carbon resources of his state with his now historic "supreme decree" 28,701.

Since then he went with all the other South American state leaders to meet with the leaders of the EU, & talk about - trade, commerce, business, economics, industry, finance, wrangling, wheeling & dealing, rackets, cartels, merchandising, traffic (all under one category we call "Capitalism") & other stuff like, human rights, poverty, ecology (carnival dancers), migration & development.

He got to stand next to Chirac for the family photo, and then went home, feeling more secure than in the last weeks, (the mafia didn't do the expected hit on him in Vienna --- what with Bertie Ahern watching ) and decided to issue another "supreme decree".... ... read full story / add a comment

There are around 70-80 people presently outside the Cathedral in support of the men ( Revolt Video Pics going up asap on new thread)

A Group of students from the school across the road have joined in and there is lively chanting outside the Cathedrals front e.

Three men from Afghanistan living in Waterford have joined the protest, and have been refusing food/water from yesterday. Presently two are outside the Cathedral and I believe one has gained access. That makes 44 people on the Hunger/Thirst strike now

Latest news from the Hospital is that Abdul and Sultan are in a stable condition, some men inside are weakening and ambulances are on standby

Joe Higgins TD, Jerry Crolly TD and A. OSnoddaigh TD are present at the Cathedral although as of yet have not gained admission. There are also people from RAR, Revolt Video, Unmanageables, Socialist Party, Sinn Fein, AWI, AY, WSM, IAWM, WV and SWP attending and plenty of unaligned!

This aircraft was seen by Edward Horgan at Shannon airport on Sunday afternoon at 2.30 pm.
It took off about two hours later.
Connor Cregan got some photos of the take off which will be published later.
It has been seen regularly at Frankfurt in Germany. It is not yet clear whether it is controlled by the US Airforce or by the CIA. It is unusual for US Airforce to operate such unmaked planes. The Irish green white and gold colour scheme is a new innovation. It makes a change from World Airways flying in Aer Lingus colours. ... read full story / add a comment
