The initial plan is to privatise 10% of the service across the greater Dublin area which will lead to 440 jobs lost. Once they have taken the most lucrative routes and crippled Dublin Bus financially and thereby cripple the remaining services, it will then be easier to convince the public to privatise it by saying it will be better.
Both FF and FG support this. Please do not vote for them. At the moment Labour are not clear, but given their record, they cannot be trusted so it is probably best advised not to vote for them either
We can vote, and this time round have voted, for protest candidates or for innocuous localist independents. The electoral process has enabled many to let off a bit of steam and punish a few incredible mainstream mediocrities. Life will go on. Radicals of all sorts can continue to live and think differently in parallel with the mainstream. Look as if you are enjoying your lives if you want mainstreamers to pay attention. In Leitrim Des Guckian, an anti fracking-campaigner is elected!
with Cllr Gerry Dolan and others. Cllr Des Guckian.
DES GUCKIAN ON THE FRACKING THREAT.
Anti-fracking is one of the main planks of my campaign to be elected, as an Independent, to Leitrim Co Council. I’ve mentioned it in each of my three canvass leaflets. I must say this stance has evoked a good response from many voters. I believe most voters fear that fracking may be introduced here “by the back door”. People see what has happened in Britain and they see the drift towards fracking in The Six Counties. If elected to Leitrim Co Council, I will work along with other like-minded Cllrs to keep the fracking threat to the fore in peoples minds. I firmly believe, and I have this in my third leaflet, “ If fracking gets in here, we can all be moving out”. Evidences from USA, Australia, Canada etc all suggest that fracking will bring a major calamity and, like the banking catastrophe, it is Sean and Maire Citizen who will be asked to foot the bill. Would any sane set of voters wish to see us and our country destroyed for “a mess of pottage”?
FG dirty tricks against People Before Profit exposed in election campaign in Inisowen, Donegal.http://www.indymedia.ie/article/104794#comment2992322014-06-19T10:23:10+00:00punterBPA has uncovered shocking tactics by Fine Gael in the election campaign in Inis...BPA has uncovered shocking tactics by Fine Gael in the election campaign in Inisowen, Donegal. A leading FG activist from Carndonagh, who hosts the FG branch meetings in his pub, was photographed taking down the posters of PBPA candidate Joe Murphy. When confronted the FG activist offered to put the posters back up, but then proceeded to erect the posters in far-flung locations. He also put the posters up below the regulation height and on structures that would incur a litter fine for the PBPA candidate, Joe Murphy.

Joe Murphy, People Before Profit candidate in Inisowen explains:

“Before the last bank holiday I was sent an email with a photo. The email said the man in the photo, a very prominent FG activists from Carndonagh, had taken down my posters. He knew he was caught on camera so he offered to put my posters back up. He apologised so I thought that was the end of it”.

“On the Monday night I got another call saying that yes my posters were up but had I seen were they were? I made the decision to go to Carndonagh and sort this out. On Tuesday morning I went to Carndonagh and I met the man who took down my posters. I told him I was not happy with where he had put up my posters and for him to show me where he had put them”.

“I put my posters up at a height of 12 feet, he had put them all back up just off the ground – exposing me to potentially thousands of euros in fines. Others you could not see because they were obscured by trees. He had also put some up miles away from the town”.

“That same FG activist later that same day tried to offer me a bribe to keep the story out of the media. He offered to make a donation to my campaign. I refused. He then asked if he could make a donation to my son, I refused that as well. He then offered to pay for us to have dinner in his pub”.

“I regard this as a concerted dirty tricks campaign against me by FG. I find it hard to believe that such a leading FG activist could do this without the knowledge of others in FG”.

“The establishment parties fear alternative voices getting elected to the council. It shows how fearful they are of new parties like People Before Profit. It also shows how undemocratic they are prepared to be to try to hold onto power”.
