14 Dead , But Not Forgotten...
Bloody Sunday , January 30 , 1972 : a picket in memory of the 14 people massacred by the British Parachute Regiment on Sunday , January 30 , 1972 , will be held in Dublin on Saturday January 29th, 2011 , at the GPO , from 12 Noon to 2pm.
Hi !
An intercepted letter to the commander of the 1st Battalion of the British Parachute Regiment , Lt. Colonel Derek Wilford , was printed on the front page of 'The Sunday Press' newspaper on the Sunday following the massacre in Derry .
It was penned by Brigadier F.P. Barclay , DSO , MCDL , Colonel , The Royal Norfolk Regiment , and says -
1/2/'72.
Dear Wilford ,
As an ex-parachute Brigade Commander I write to say how proud it made one feel to see the way , on TV , which your lads went into action against those blighters last Sunday . They looked splendid and , as usual , bang on the ball .
It seems to me and many others that prompt retaliatory action such as this is long overdue . It will have , I've little doubt , a most salutory effect . Should have happened long since!
I sincerely trust you successfully weather those thoroughly unjustified but seemingly inevitable brickbats and recriminations emanating mostly from those who either have no sense of law and order , duty or perspective , or who are spineless .
With best wishes to you and yours ,
Sincerely ,
Peter Barclay ,
Little Dunham Lodge ,
Kings Lynn , Norfolk .
The 'Bloody Sunday' picket will be held on Saturday , January 29th , 2011, from 12 Noon to 2pm , on the traffic island facing the GPO in Dublin .
All Welcome!
Thanks!
Sharon.

'Bloody Sunday' picket , GPO , Dublin , Saturday 29th January 2011 , 12 Noon - 2pm.
Hi !
The RSF 'Bloody Sunday' picket was held in O' Connell Street today , over a two-hour period , and attracted a fair bit of attention , including unwanted attention from five 'Special Branch' operatives.
About 30 RSF members and/or supporters were present , with numerous banners and placards , and almost one-thousand leaflets were distributed.
RSF President Des Dalton said a few words , and dozens of shoppers and on-lookers etc approached those on the picket to take a leaflet and 'pose' between the banners/placards for a photograph!
A brief report and a few pics can be viewed at the 'Related Link' below , and more of same will be published in the February 2011 issue of 'Saoirse' , which goes to print on Wednesday 9th of that month.
Thanks,
Sharon.

The fact that the visit of a rickety old queen from a foreign country for a few days makes some people think that the British Empire is attacking us shows everybody how mature some people are.
Hi All !
"Rickety" old visitors are welcome - man or woman - but the woman in question is , as stated , Commander-in-Chief of the British Army , an organisation which is not yet finished with its 'activities' in Ireland.
It is that fact which Republicans object to , not her age.
Thanks anyway ,
Sharon.
