6th of January
On the 6th of January we held a blockkade of a Shell gasstation in the city of Ghent (Belguim)
We did this blockkade out of solidarity with the people who are resisting Shell in Rossport, Ireland. We also wanted to commemorate the 9 Ogoni activists who were murderd by Shell in the Nigerdelta.
During the action we were able to turn away most of the cars after we had a conversation with the drivers. We also handed out informative flyers to people passing by and showed our banners which said "SHELL OUT OF IRELAND" and "SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE IN ROSSPORT AND THE NIGER DELTA"
After about one hour the police arrived and broke up the blockkade and checked everybody's id cards.
Greetings from Ghent to the people in Rossport and the Niger delta
Let the fight go on !!!

I'm sure that all Shell to Sea supporters in Ireland will be delighted to see this wonderful solidarity action !
Nice to see awareness of shell's underhand corporate behaviour spreading and principled people taking a stand. Happy to see that these corporate slime aren't getting everything their own way. Interesting to see that they are still trading as shell in Belgium. They had to change their name to Topaz in Ireland to avoid the bad publicity here.
Fantastic action, you guys are beautiful, well done and thanks from Ireland! Solidarity
Thanks a million to all involved in Ghent action - it always means a lot to those beleagured by corporate arrogance and weak governance.
Thanks again and be assured that we'll keep the fight going here for as long as it takes.
Thank you all who stood against Shell with this protest, we here in Ireland have been protesting for many years and it's really great that others around the World stand up against Shells world pollution. Human beings have the right to live in an Environment that is free from toxic pollution that Shell thinks it's alright to discharge into our air and water; Thank You again from the People of Erris Ireland,,
brilliant!
