The 'Your Right Your Fight' CE Workers campaign met with Minister O Cuiv, Minister for Social Protection on 17th November 2010 to raise concerns on the possible removal of the One-parent Family Payments & Disability payments for CE Workers.

On 17th November the ‘Your Right Your Fight’ CE campaign met with Minister Eamon O’ Cuiv over concerns that the One-Parent Family payment and Disability payment would be removed for over 10,000 CE workers.

The delegation comprised of:

Hilary Kingston, CE Worker, Aware

Darragh O Connor, Lead Organiser, SIPTU

Shonagh Byrne, Organiser, SIPTU

Frances Byrne, CEO, OPEN

Brid O Brien, Head of Policy, INOU

The delegation was also supported by Jonathan Hanna, CE Worker, Sorcha Murphy, CE Worker & Bernie Greer, CE Supervisor.

Thanks to the Your Right Your Fight campaign and the lobbying by CE SIPTU members, Minister O’ Cuiv confirmed that he is not considering any proposals to remove the One-Parent Family Payment or Disability Payment from CE workers. The delegation cautiously welcomes the Minister’s statement but will remain vigilant on this issue.

SIPTU recognises the considerable commitment that CE workers and others have given to the campaign and we would encourage all CE workers to join with SIPTU in the continuous fight to defend your rights.
