Jim McLaughlin lectured in political Geography in UCC for many years.
His current research interests are in Political Geography of Race and
Racism, Irish Emigration, Irish minority populations Identity politics
and ethnonationalism, Gypsies, Travellers and nomadism, Latin American
studies History of the social sciences. He has been widely published.
He will be talking about the ideas of Peter Kropotkin a Russian
anarchist whose ideas were extremely influential well beyond anarchist
and radical circles.

I always loved the way Kropotkin escaped from prison - the Peter and Paul fortress I think it was . He had his servants waiting outside the front gates with a horse and carriage to transport him home . They probably had a picnic hamper . Home James and don't spare the horses ! I suppose that sounds a bit cruel to animals nowadays .
Seriously though , Mark "Flash " Stone: The Anarchist Cop . That would be a better title for a public meeting I would have thought at the moment. . Mark Kennedy Stone was the anarchist prince of Nottingham- loved by all , a brother a close confidant mentor and friend. Fearless, the first into action by all accounts confronting any manifestation of hierarchy with his van load of volunteers ready to travel anywhere in Europe for underground eco animal liberation work . Visited Ireland on a few occasions . as well ........
