Tuesday 4th May in the South Presentation, Evergreen Street
We will be screening part of the documentary: The Power of Community. This is a documentary about how Cuba, an isolated island nation, rebuilt its quality of life following the collapse of cheap oil, supplied by the former Soviet Union. The film shows how communities pulled together, created solutions, and ultimately thrived in spite of their decreased dependence on imported energy.
This is relevant for GIY Cork because one of their main strategies was to create hundreds of gardens in every city!
We will also screen a short 15 minute piece from the BBC about rotating livestock, crops, etc. around a small farm for maximum efficiency.
We will also be promoting our next GIY event - a guided garden walk around Dunsland Garden Centre, Glanmire, hosted by Peter Dowdall, followed by a seedling swap. This event will take place the Saturday following the meeting (ie. Saturday 8th May). We will also organise carpooling for the garden walk trip.
Everyone welcome!
