REMEMBER IRELAND'S PATRIOT DEAD - WEAR AN EASTER LILY

This seems to be a list of Republican Sinn Fein/CIRA supporter events that are taking place, not the republican movement, or is RSF still doing its best to be elitist and claiming to still be the one and only true republican movement despite there being organisations that are far more capable the RSF such as 32CSM and RNU

It seems for some the confused ideas of Adams still linger, his movements idea of creating a version 'republicanism ' where its built to suit yourself is best evidenced by the multitude of 'republican movements' who are currently doing the rounds on this island. As an independent socialist, who might not technically be republican in the capital R sense, there is no doubt that Rsf is (in the capital R sense). This puts them ahead ideologically of the others who by and large are simply more militant version of Adams/Pira, ie: eirigi politically, 32csm in 'the other way'.

I have my own disagreements with them, but on republicanism they are the RM and there is no way around that no matter how it may infuriate.

Rsf are the Republican Movement which has always been around and have always existed. I'm not alone in this as a socialist, as socialists around the world from Turkey to Palestine recognise Rsf as, even far all its faults, as the revolutionary republican current in Ireland. I would also include IRSP as,again there is a strong ideological framework in how and why they operate. neither are in reaction to the GFAs shortcomings but on ideas that pre exist it.

I could also point out that in my reading of this site one cannot help but notice that Rsf comrades don't seem to occupy themselves to snipe on posts these other more capable (who somehow aren't capable enough organise more than a handful of 1916 rising commemorations) but that might be indicative that they hold something else that these others do not possess: confidence.

Irish nationalism, and loyalism, from their first expression to this very day, have been bedevilled by informers and spies. Many times over the centuries, all forms of organised nationalism, pacifist or forceful, have been betrayed time and time and time again by perverted elements within such organisations and groups. It is an ignoble fact of life that Irish secret societies (including loyalist -pro-British) have never been free of the in-built native traitor-informer.

Today, we only have to look at the current crop of organisations to see the truth of this assertion. What is most shameful, those in positions of trust at the very heart and head of the organisations have been exposed as traitors- even those responsible for preventing such treaachery; and having the power of life or death over their own rank-and-file members!

Any faith or trust in any such organisation, be it loyalist or republican-nationalist, is not possible in such circumstances. Support or membership of such movements is dangerous and life-threatening, not least the danger from ones comrades and friends. That has been proved time and again. Just who can you trust?

That is the one and only reason why such Irish movements and secret societies, whatever their allegiances, will never succeed in their aims, and never have in the past centuries!

We hear of our '700 years' occupation.' No wonder! It was not for the want of trying that nationalism failed! And when partial freedom came, the administration of our sad country was, and has become worse than it was under British rule! Traitors of a different sort ensured this fact.

I am certain that these assorted secret, movements are fated to fail and fail again - splintering into various offshoots when they run out of road or credibility; as is happening at this time.

Is there anything more telling than the plethora of republican designations such as "official, provisional, real, continuity?"

It reminds one of the Rocky films - 1,2,3 - ad infinitum.

Old disillusioned Republicans never die, they just rise from the ashes like the phoenix - born-again with a new brand and a new name - over and over and over again- for eternity.

As for the loyalists -they don't bear talking about.

The most scurrilous and reprehensible fact of all, however, is the fact that former members of the various organisations have slipped so easily into base crime, drug-pushing, smuggling, and other common criminality.

No wonder modern Republicanism and Loyalism can never depend for their existence on the noble credibility, respect and honourable idealism of their political ancestry - be it Tone, Pearse and Brugha or Carson and the loyalist pantheon of iconic leaders. They were personally men of honour and loyalty - but their movements were also bedevilled by spies and informers.

It is time to acknowledge the reality and realist that the existence of informers in all such organisations means that they are doomed from the start; it has always been so, and always will be so. Only a blinkered fool would become involved in such treacherous organisations.

Read the various republican sites and see the hatred expressed for former comrades-in-arms!! Same as after the Treaty, and just as bitter, now that the second wave of gunmen has entered the Dail! I presume that they can now be designated (as the Free-Staters were the second wave of Tans) the 'third wave of Tans?'

And it will happen again in the future with a fresh crop! Don't believe me? Read the history books!

Bíodh ciall agaibh,in ainm Dé!

I share your concern Rockite , but the Easter Rising wasn’t betrayed by informers. They say that you’re never more than ten metres from a rat , but that shouldn’t stop you from going about your everyday business, surely.
