Seven Years of Occupation and Suffering in Iraq ... Seven Years of Daily War Support at Shannon Airport.
Voice your Protest at the Shannon Vigil on March 14th, 2 - 3pm (gathering just before airport entrance/security checkpoint)

The US-led invasion of Iraq on 19th March 2003 (based on lies about disarming the country of alleged weapons of mass destruction and links with al-Qaeda) has had serious long-term repercussions for the country and its people. There have been over 100,000 civilian deaths as a result of the ongoing war. Approximately 15% of the population are still displaced from their homes inside and outside the country. Public health, electricity, sanitation and water services are inadequate. The country is now deeply divided.

Shannon Airport has played a big part in the occupation of Iraq. Every week around 5,000 troops make their way through the "civilian" airport on their way to or from Iraq. This logistical support for an illegal and destructive war has been continuous since the occupation began in March 2003 - despite hollow rhetoric from our political leaders about Irish neutrality.

Seven years after the invasion, Shannon Airport and private companies operating there makes a meagre financial profit from the suffering and human rights abuses of innocent Iraqi people.

It is time to get the war industry out of Shannon. Voice your protest and remember the people of Iraq at the Shannon Vigil, 14th March 2pm - 3pm.
