![]() Haitians have faced their tragedy with dignity and stoicism – not that you would know it from the way the disaster has been reported Andy Kershaw has a good piece in the independent. It highlights the unhelpful behaviour of the US military and the box ticking NGO's and how their respective cultures are leading to a situation where there is lots of aid available but it is just not getting to the people who need it. He tempers this depressing scenario with an inspiring insight into the character of the Haitians and a belief that they are a people of character who have risen above adversity before and will rise above this calamity and our bumbling self serving obsession with security in their country instead of just distributing the aid ordinary people have generously sent to the Haitians |
