Noam Chomsky is an American academic and intellectual. Unusually, for a political thinker, his books sell in huge quantities, to a willing audience eager for answers to the problems of our world. Chomsky punctures every myth of Capitalism and of American society, and, crucially, he breaks with the pro-Israeli orthodoxy of American academics and the political elite.

He is the author of over 80 books. Sometimes those books consist of interviews with him, which may be quicker to produce. In any case, Chomsky’s work rate as an intellectual has often amounted to a book or more every year or two. In addition, he tours regularly, talking, lecturing and being filmed for DVD release. A film based on one of his books about the media, "Manufacturing Consent", is the highest-grossing Canadian documentary to date, and has recently been re-released.

Chomsky is smart, calm, committed, precise. He demolishes the "common-sense" arguments of the elite, with examples, quotes, analysis.

Chomsky is hugely popular among radicals, especially the young, and has become a part of popular culture. He has been championed by and has appeared with Rage Against The Machine, and has been supported by Pearl Jam and Radiohead. It should be pointed out that Chomsky cant stand Rock'n'Roll, which he described as “that horrible music which they listen to”...
