The equality protest is in support of gay people having the same rights to marry as straight people, something the Irish government refuses them.
There is a heavy Garda presence at the scene. Currently the protest is concentrated at Kildare Street, but other protesters have also gathered at the Department of the Toaiseach and government buildings on Merrion Square.

Hopefully this incident will get publicity and a mature debate about gay rights and individual freedoms will finally begin culminating in the legalisation of gay marriage.
At a time when the present government is on the ropes and a left right coalition seeks election this is just the time to stir the pot and get some controversy going - it is the silly season at the moment after all.
Great work guys and girls and keep it up.
The movie Bruno is "coming out" next month and Baron Sacha Cohen is in Ireland for the summer with his partner Isla Fisher I think if a more brazen series of publicity seeking incidents could staged with his help it could get international recognition?
