LOUTH MURDER - ENQUIRY CALL SUPPORT
Developments in the campaign of a Co. Louth family to uncover the
truth surrounding the murder of one of their relatives were reported
to the AGM of the Celtic League held on the Isle of Man this weekend.
The League have been supporting calls by the family of Co. Louth forestry
worker, Seamus Ludlow, to establish a full independent public enquiry
into his murder in 1976.
The League Secretary General, Bernard Moffatt, said there were substantial
allegations that the murder was committed by a loyalist murder gang
which may have had links to British Security Services in the North
of Ireland.
He outlined recent developments which included the recent decision
by the Irish Attorney General to instruct the Co. Louth Coroner to
hold an inquest.
It was agreed that the League would continue its support for the Ludlow
family and correspondence already sent to Irish government Ministers
would be followed up.
The following resolution was adopted:
"This AGM: Whilst welcoming the decision of Attorney General, Rory
Brady, to instruct the Coroner for County Louth, Mr. Ronan Maguire
BL, to hold an inquest into the death of Seamus Ludlow, the Celtic
League reiterates its support for the Ludlow families request for
a full and independent public enquiry."
