A Green New Deal: What it could mean for Ireland
The idea of a green economy, advanced by many including Barack Obama, would see millions of jobs created by investing in renewable energy sources, making homes and transport more energy efficient and introducing a range of measures to reduce our carbon emissions. This lecture explores the possiblilities of a Green New Deal. The main speaker is Colin Hines who first developed the idea in the report “A Green New Deal” published in UK in July 2008. Also speaking are John Barry, the chairman of the Green Party, Peadar Kirby, Professor of International Politics and Public Policy, University of Limerick and Paul Allen from the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales.
