Inner City News
A new media project is coming to Dublin soon. Beginning in March/April 2009, Inner City News will arrive in your locality. Focusing on our new publication with enthusiasm, our goal is to inform communities -to the best of our ability- on all that is happening in their areas.
With critical analyses of major events in the inner cities of Dublin, we aim to keep you up to date on all community issues, but focusing mainly on the positive and progressive aspects.
Communicating where possible with the people involved in corroborating our articles and information, our commitment is to our readers -who are the community. We will provide up to date local news and sport, with regular reports on the social issues affecting the residents and workers. We will operate with the highest journalistic ethics and absolute respect for truth and honesty.
Inner City News will be a free publication, and will be supported by local business’s covering the north, south, east, west and central inner city areas of Dublin.
Published every two months in 16 page, A4 format, with an initial print run of 1,000 copies (approximately 5,000 -10,000 readers), we hope to increase that to a monthly issue of 5,000 copies (approx. 25,000 - 50,000 readers) by the end of our first trading year.
This is your paper, so we encourage everyone concerned about our communities to get involved by providing stories, information about local clubs, organisations and events etc. We will also welcome ideas from the public on how the paper can be improved. Along with news and sport we will have regular features about well known past and present local personalities, current social, political and workers issues, also regular articles on local history, arts and culture. With inputs from guest writers, we also welcome contributions from the general public, especially welcome are contributions from Chinese, Nigerian, Romanian, and Polish nationals.
So if you would like to see your poetry in print or maybe you can write short stories or just have something to say, well write and send it to us. The first issue will be launched on April 1st, 2009, the deadline for contributions is March 25th.
At Inner City News, we welcome and thank you for your valued support. We want you to share in our vision,
“A Community That Knows Is A Community That Grows”.
Thank you,

Hi Michael, wondering what your figures of 1000 getting 10,000 readers and 5000 getting up to 50,000 are based on? How do you expect each issue to by passed on that many times? Given the overcrowded market with free newspapers at the moment you would want to be aiming more towards printing at least 10,000 copies if its a serious project, printing 1000 isnt even worth starting up the machines for in most printers.
