Co. Galway town commemorates literary associations
The Second Forge at Gort literature festival takes place in Gort, Co. Galway, thanks to the genrosity of writers and sponsors
The second 'Forge at Gort' Literature festival at Gort, Co Galway, organised by the Western Writers' Centre, shows a strong and varied line-up for March 27th and 28th. Ulick O'Connor, Patricia Burke Brogan, novelist Juliet Bressan, archaeologist and lecturer Michael Gibbins, poet Gerry Murphy, The White House Poets, Tim Cunningham, John Arden, editor of alternative fiction magazine Albedo 1 Robert Neilson, Margaretta D'Arcy, poet and musician Clare Sawtell, Patrick Early and a dash of musicians are among those lined up for this year's festival, which, according to the Centre's Director, has been made possible through the immense goodwill and sponsors and writers and artists themselves. "We were astounded by the reaction of writers and of local people in Gort, who were determined the festival would happen and have made it happen. We have many people to thank for this."
