SPECIAL GUESTS: Chicago Legend and National Book Award finalist PATRICIA SMITH [www.wordwoman] author of Blood Dazzler, poems which chronicle the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina; Teahouse of the Almighty, a National Poetry Series selection and winner of the Hurston-Wright Legacy Award; Close to Death; Big Towns, Big Talk, and Life According to Motown; plus JEFFERY MCDANIEL, author of four books of poetry: The Endarkenment (2008, University of Pittsburgh Press); The Splinter Factory (2002, Manic D Press); The Forgiveness Parade (1998, Manic D); Alibi School (1995, Manic D) AND recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Washington DC Council for the Arts.
