On the 7th Liberty Hall will be the venue for the Bookfair itself, which will start at 10.30. In the main hall we will have bookstalls and information stalls covering a range of active campaigns and revolutionary groups including the WSM, Stitchy Press, Rebel County Books, Organise!, Class War and Just Books. CINEMA AT THE BOOKFAIR/////////////////////////////
LOCATION: MAIN THEATRE AUDITORIUM

-------------------------

The Dignity Of The Nobodies
La Dignidad De Las Nadies

STARTS 11AM SHARP

Produced, directed, written by Fernando E. Solanas.

It's hard to make a passionate film about average Joes that can cause viewers' pulses to race, but Fernando E. Solanas' exhilarating docu "The Dignity of the Nobodies" proves it can be done. Designed as the second in a four film series after Solanas' 2004 "A Social Genocide," which analyzed the policies of power and the role globalization and neo-liberalism played in Argentina's economic disaster, "Dignity" is more anecdotal, celebrating individual and collective actions that show how a seemingly immoveable reality can be changed. Its narrative and human appeal should make it marginally more marketable than its predecessor.

The veteran Argentine helmer noted for his social documentaries is clearly outraged by the injustice brought about by his country's economic collapse, but he chooses to concentrate not on how the poor are victimized, but how some of them have managed to win small but telling victories. An upbeat tone guides a wealth of intercut stories over a rather stretched two-hour running time, ending in a rousing final call to action and resistance.

----------------------------------

Wallets Full of Blood: Houses On The Moon: 'Zombies Roam An Undead Republic'
Directed by Eamonn Crudden.

STARTS 4PM OR SO.

Amidst the collapse of the Irish economy, the inhabitants of a rural hinterland begin to feel the touch of the dead hand of the housing market. Set in the notorious ghost estates of post 'celtic tiger' Ireland, 'Wallets Full of Blood' features Dennis Hopper as the voice of Brian 'Brains' Ahern. 'Brains' is a developer and a 'big man' in politics. He's also the overseer of a particularly gory property price collapse on 'Fiddler's Green'. He reckons he can clean up as a result of the creeping zombification all around him but his plans take on a zero-sum logic of their own. To save himself from the killing floor that results, 'Brains' attempts to turn his minions against each other but finds to his horror that control of the vicious cycle of blood and price drops has slipped from his greedy, grasping fingers.

Cheers to the WSM for a great day - The Ashanti Alson talk was the highlight for me though!
