Mary Harney's Genital Warts Shame

category national | gender and sexuality | opinion/analysis author Saturday November 08, 2008 11:15author by doing it with élan.

Let's be frank about it, Mary Harney's Genital Warts story is a shame crying out for a tongue wagging.

As the most cultured amongst us know this year's Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology was shared by scientists in that trade who have made inroads in the virus research lark. One laureate managed to link up the HPV group of viruses with cervical cancer & before you could say "love me warts and all" most European states decided to vaccinate young wans against only 3 of the near 100 strains of HPV or "genital warts" a virus which indeed doesn't always produce warts...........it being a sly killer and all.
Mary Warty Harney.
Mary Warty Harney.

They let it be known that this would reduce cervical cancer in the sort of way which would appeal to young wans and young fellas starting out on a lifetime's shagging with or without condoms. This will stop cancer - they said. In Ireland the news was delightful to those females who realised that they need no longer lobby for a state wide cervical smear service and routine session with their legs in stirrups whilst a nice enough professional examines their private bits for hard to see lesions.

The boys got off scot free of course because nobody has yet to consider HPV transmission or infection amongst males as anything worth more than a vinegar bath.

But then came the vaccine with its advertised hpye of saving our young females from the assorted skin bound viruses carried by an estimated 80% of sexually active adults, though it would do no such thing, and parents, mammies and daddies up and down the land breathed a sigh of relief.

Harney might have fucked the pensioners, nurses, doctors and pretty much any group she has touched in the 23 years since she helped break the mould on Irish politics but now she was going to save the young wans from having their wombs cut out.

& she reckoned it would save money too.

If any of you are in doubt as to the efficacy of the HPV so called "Cervical cancer" vaccine then talk to the good folk in the medical industry who are now demanding that that vaccine which is available throughout Europe be offered to Irish girls. But make no mistake in thinking that vaccine will cure HPV or even block all its strains. Coz the nifty little injection only deals with 3 strains of the virus which thrives on both private parts of boy and girl alike as well as in their mouths. If of course they do the mouth thing.

But the public loves vaccines.

Of course there really ought be some who come forward now and congratulate Mary Harney on her Genital Warts shame and wrap their arms around her girth and ambition and acknowledge that she has brought our young wans back to chastity and abstinence. Because that is the proper thinking ahead capitalist way.

If you want to grow old you'd better have a pension.

If you want to have sex you'd better afford a gynacologist with an eye for detail or else get used to washing yourself in vinegar so you know when it's time to cut your womb out. Naturally if you're a man it will be your woman's womb you'll be cutting out or if you're progressive like, your boyfriends rectum.

Still warts never spoilt the appeal of an arsehole.

Well Done Mary Harney!!! We really truly love and respect, cherish and admire your 23 years of commitment to breaking the mould

"The planned HPV vaccination programme for girls to protect against cervical cancer has been cancelled by the Government. Health Minister Mary Harney has announced that the programme to vaccinate 12-year-old girls against the HPV virus that causes cervical cancer, which was to have begun from next September, will not go ahead."

We the people of Ireland call for the immediate restoration of the programme to vaccinate against Cervical Cancer in Ireland. started from a staff member of Louth Hospital who lives within spitting distance of a proper screening and vaccine health servive and only a short air journey away from the popular Ryanair destinations which boast the highest occurences of HPV infection on the planet.

Not implying that Michael o Leary has genital warts.
Not exactly saying he doesn't either. He can get his scrotum out in court and wash it in vinegar if he wants to sue for libel. But he plays a part in the general wartiness of modern life. It's not something we ought be ashamed of. But Harney!?!?

she's just written off our young women without even mentioning their boyfriends.

arsehole.

that got your attention & now back to Mr African American more American than African 44th president of the USA

Somethings wrong here apart from our government , which is wrong every time it opens it mouth.

We are now vaccinating our young children against STIs ? Isnt that putting the cart before the horse ?

Shouldn't we be doing something about the rampant underage sex in our society ? Shouldnt we be tackling a school educational system where making your confirmaiton is still more important than learning about human reproduction and sexual relations in a caring and nurtuting environment ?

Isnt there something can be done to make condoms more available? I can hardly afford the damn things and Ive got a house and a family ? What chance has a kid got of walking into a phrmacy and asking for a box of jonnies and then forking over 14quid for them?

Should we just give up on having a moral society and start pre supposing that our little girls are going to get the pox ?

Where to next ? Vaccinate the new borns against syphilis ?

the new vaccine has actually proved quite controversial and may not be in the best interests of young girls. many people are just not aware of the extent of the fraud within medicine these days .harney may inadvertently got one thing right.see:

I would love for my kids to be chaste (& safe from rape & sexual abuse too) but a vaccination is more likely to keep them safe from HPV than anything we tell them.

margaret,

no one is saying that your children should remain chaste as you put it but did you read the link i gave. sadly , the scientific evidence supporting this vaccine does not exist. these trials were conducted in such a way as to give a more favourable finding to the results than are justified. do you want your daughter to be another victim of pharmaceutical fraud because I can assure you they couldn't care less for her health but instead want to cream off huge profits.another cash cow.

1) Condoms are highly effective in the prevention of all STD's except for HPV. You can get HPV on your bits or in your mouth regardless of the unholy prophylactic or contraceptive which is the humble sheath.

2) Cervical Cancer is associated with micro-lesions which themselves are associated with untreated HPV infections of multiple strains.

3) of the many HPV strains not all are considered to be high risk and indeed many just produce unsightly little bumps. It is often true but not a rule that the strains which provoke warts are not high risk and the strains which are not visible are in fact high risk.

4) The vaccine is effective against only some of the strains of the HPV virus but not all. It's introduction in Europe this year in many states has been part of a wider strategy of screening and awareness (encouraging women to attend regular screenings).

5) there is no cure for HPV - the visibile effects of those strains of the virus which are Harney w-a-r-t-e-y may be treated in various ways ranging from creams to lasers to a sort of freezing gizmo and it's recommended to maintain a diet filled with fresh fruit and vegetables because they give you vitamins.

6) Globalisation has meant the spread of what previously if at all noticed was an inocous condition. The majority of sexually active adults who have had multiple partners in North America and the EU carry some strain of HPV.

It is many ways rather like another inocous virus Herpes Simplex D which despite the scary STD name is in fact the common coldsore. Recent medical research has suggested a link between that very common virus and Alzheimers. Medical research as well as making us all feel well can also make us all feel shit. It is ironic that the most common viruses of these types are targetted by both the medical industry and its partners and sponsors in the pharmaceutical corporations. There are numerous products for example which surpress the common cold sore so good looking advert people can still feel sexy regardless of the tingle on their lip which is the sign that the virus in their body wants to find a new host. Of course that means more customers for coldsore medicines.

Ireland has had an unacceptably high level of deaths due to cervical cancer thanks to the near negligence of its state and its health policies. Aside from mortality rates this is a cancer which causes serious suffering to many thousands of women in Ireland every year. The vaccine which has been given to teenagers throughout Europe this year and was scheduled to be given to Irish girls soon enough - can only be considered as an investment in the future and ought be accompanied by a campaign raising awareness of both Cervical Cancer and HPV.

which is why I signed the petition left my comment there & then wrote this article.

it is important to recognise that hpv DOES NOT CAUSE cervical cancer but that the HPV vaccine may actually INCREASE THE RISK of precancerous lesions by 44.6 percent.

the FDA in the US basically approved this product knowing that there is no proven efficacy and of course given the influence of this industry on medicine and governments we and others follow suit blindly believing what we are told and getting outraged that such interventions are not made available for the health and well being of our children- heaven help us!!

i would encourage people not to sign this ill informed petition

Cop yourself on will you?

The FDA and Codex have driven political policy at a global level for many generations. They ahve contributed to
world hunger and to the mass manufacture of processed foods. But people will believe anything if it has a pretty
label- and sure if it does not work they can always go for synthetic organ replacement.

Imagine some people opposed the vaccine cos it was supposed to 'sexualise young girls', yes, that
and Rubella . We are third world in our understanding of individuation.

author by shawneypublication date Sat Nov 08, 2008 20:08author address author phone

well yep? I think i agree with your sentimentsabout the fda and codex which i am familiar with but i am not sure you have interpreted me correctly?

author by Peter Wolfepublication date Sun Nov 09, 2008 21:21author address author phone

I agree that it is reasonable not to give a vaccine to your child unless you are 100% sure that it has a proven track record and this HPV vaccine does not seem to have a proven track record. The reports posted above into it's possible side effects are worrying and I note that nobody has tried to disprove any of that.

But the point made about condoms not being an effective bar against sexually transmitted warts is very true. However they are a help and combined with a proper sex educaiton plan in schools could lead to much better situation than we have now. Uneducated and unprotected. If the money that was supposed to be put into the drug could actually have been put into a programme of freee STI testing services then I would be far more convinced that there was a plan which had a bit of maturity behind it. Except it appears to have been a reaction to a current EU trend which when we take into account the amount of control big business has over The EU democratic process we are right to suspect an ulterior motive. in this case perhaps big Drug Companies making a killing, as was stated.

I'll bet its only a matter of very little time before someone starts to say its a women's rights issue and parents should back out.

This isnt a case about Mary Harney getting it right, she never did before and if the money was available they would pobably have xPD Brown shirts harrassing schools to make adults have their young daughters get it.

author by Spartacuspublication date Sun Nov 09, 2008 22:12author address author phone

Issue condoms to teenage and older boys; install dispensing machines in schools and clubhouses; get teachers to tell it all to them using powerpoint no-holds-barred illustrations - you'll still get 'unwanted' pregnancies and teen schoolgirls having their schooling traumatically interrupted. One reason is the cavalier youthful attitude to weekend boozing (even girls are at it with innocent-looking alco-pop cocktails topped up with nips of gin and vodka) which is rampant in Irish society. If you think boys are going to whip on the condoms while soaked in alcohol, or girls are going to either insist that they do so or simply say 'not this time', you must be joking. Alcohol education (which also means parents stop treating their teen kids to booze in country pubs etc.) should come before ineffective sex education. But it won't because the drink culture is too strongly embedded. Booze, sex and disco rock are the curse of youth.

it is wrong as one reader wrote that this vaccine may have possible 'side effects'. this implies that the vaccine has a a proven efficacy which of course it does not. it is more correct to use the term serious adverse effects.

People should note that Reports of adverse reactions to the new HPV vaccine are escalating.Acute Demyelinating Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), for instance is a condition characterized by inflammation of the brain and is associated with the vaccination

Also a review of the U.S.’s Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) data shows that thousands and thousands of adverse reactions have been reported in the United States alone ! see:

Anybody just listening to today FM will have just had the treat of hearing Ireland's very own Plaid Poodle, Ray D'arcy gnawing on the ankle of Ireland's prize cow, Mary Harney , about this vaccine.
It was completely unhelpful.
She explained that of all the things that are needed this is not the most urgent of them. She explained calmly that it is a vaccinaiton against an STI and hence most people arent affected by it one way or another until they reach a later age than 11 and 12.
Darcy just kept shouting at ther that she was going to kill people.

Then Darcy shouted at ther that she didnt seem to realise that it was the people who needed it most that would not be able to afford it privately - What does that mean, Ray ?

Oh sure , I get it, poor peoples daughters are more likely to be the neighbourhood Bike, is that it Ray ?

Luckily for him Harney didnt pick up on that.

He finished up by saying , " What Mother and Father are going to stop their 12 yr old girls getting it?"

Ehhh ...! If I'm relying on people like you to help me decide then I dont know Ray .

people like d'arcy and FM radio which is compleyely shallow and superficial have no real understanding of the fraud within medicine these days. they serve to dish up the usual vested interests on these issues. don't listen to crappy radio stations like this.

Thats my point exactly,

We are told about the Vaccine and before we know it there is a fanatical outcry from the like of Darcy and his flock of texter followers and emailers to his show, simply spouting vitriol and hate because what we never had is being taken away from us.
Im a father and if this vaccine works and its safe then you're dam right I want it for my girl. But shes just a kid and I can wait until we have a mature debate about the whole thing. Some of the claims made here and the reports showing damaging effects from this thing are downright scary. I want to feel free to say : I want the info before I make my mind up.

With mouthpieces like Darcy jumping on the "Right on" bandwagon and trying to make themselves popular by playing to the crowd ( a crowd who I'll bet at least half of know nothing about the STI aspect of this vaccine.) we are never going to get the facts.

author by shawneypublication date Tue Nov 11, 2008 13:39author address author phone

exactly peter, you are spot on.

i notice that the people calling for others to sign this petition have not responed to the evidence i presented that this vaccine is a hoax. they run away and refuse to face the issues. i have noticed this time and time again with people who defend medical fraud- they simply ignore the critics and hope the public go along with pro pharmaceutical and petro chemical fraud.

i have taken this from : http://www.squidoo.com/vaccinenews

Each 0.5-mL dose of the vaccine contains approximately 225 mcg of aluminum (as amorphous aluminum hydroxyphosphate sulfate adjuvant),
9.56 mg of sodium chloride,
0.78 mg of L-histidine,
50 mcg of polysorbate 80,
35 mcg of sodium borate,
and water for injection.
The product does not contain a preservative or antibiotics."

bloody frigtening i think. as for darcy , questioning dogma is too much to expect. he will just continue to spout verbal diahorrea.

Shawney, you might be riding the coat-tails of an interesting article whose responses have so far been quite narrowly selective. Wasn't that a wonderful line tacked on to the end of an article which told us how HPV comes in many strains, some which cause visible symptoms, some which do not, some which are considered high risk and some which are not & very few of which are dealt with in a European vaccine.

But I reckon the boy or girl who wrote that wonderful line reminding us of the dark days when to identify an active homosexual all a doctor had to do was find warts on an anus - actually wanted us to widen understanding of a skin disease and the importance of cervical care and screening.

You haven't offered much opinion on that.

who is the writer of this article ‘doing it with élan?' who is trying to encourage people to sign a petition for a vaccine which is a hoax.

Élan., our very own home bred drug pharmaceutical company??

Many of us today are aware of the lies, evil, deceit and fraudulent claims made by drug companies.

Nutrition, exercise, social support, fresh air, herbs are the answer I say --much better than pharmaceutical poision given to the masses!

Check this out about élan:

In 2002, for example, the pharmaceutical company Elan halted trials of a vaccine after 15 patients suffered swelling of the central nervous system. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/0711120918...5.htm

this 'treatment' was devised for alzheimers.they are working on a new 'treatment' now i believe.

the truth, which readers may find hard to believe, but for which many believe there is considerable evidence ,is that alzheimers is very much related to the poision fluoride in our water along with aluminium . we have probadly the worse drinking water in europe. incidentally, the rest of europe does not fluoride its water precisely on health grounds. the previous link i provided on elan should caution anyone who is prepared to put their trust in orthodox medicine which in a short period of time i believe will be exposed as one of the greatest frauds of our time .

That's what you can get from HPV vaccinations.

The vaccines actually invade the body with the very viruses they claim to prevent. The result is an increased risk of cervical cancer in many girls, and genital warts in others.

Read today's disturbing feature story to learn why: http://www.naturalnews.com/024774.html

Although I hate to admit it, Ive just heard another disturbing broadcast from Ray Darcy : 33 , 000 people have E-mailed Harney to get her to give them back their HPV vaccine. I dont know if these people have kids themselves or if they are just Darcy's righteously outraged Lynch Mob. Are any of them aware of the reports which are posted here? Reports with claims like these :

" NaturalNews has also learned that HPV vaccines have been proven to be flatly worthless in clearing the HPV virus from women who have already been exposed to HPV (which includes most sexually active women), calling into question the scientific justification of mandatory "vaccinate everyone" policies.

Furthermore, this story reveals evidence that the vaccine currently being administered for HPV -- Gardasil -- may increase the risk of precancerous cervical lesions by an alarming 44.6 percent in some women. The vaccine, it turns out, may be far more dangerous to the health of women than doing nothing at all. "

http://www.naturalnews.com/report_HPV_Vaccine_0.html

Or the other claims made, and among them being the one that in 78 cases the vaccine actually gave the child the warts on her organs. And also that " including the 78 outbreaks of genital warts, there have been 9,748 adverse events reported as per Judicial Watch, a non-profit watchdog group. Judicial Watch also reports that there have been 21 deaths, not including the deaths (by miscarriage) of 10 unborn babies."

Alarmingly, I have to note that these reports have been posted here a few days now with not a single rebuttal or refutation being posted. I'm glad I took the time to use this board to air my reservations. The way things stand at the moment, you'd need a riot squad to get my kid into your laboratory for that jab.

Thanks !

But I still think too much comments has gone to either the don't believe in vaccines or how do I save my girl from the consequences of shagging boys who don't do vinegar baths .

Oh by the way I chose this user name to link in with Harney's Elan adventure the sloppily written article on which may be read by clicking on the link above.

But..,

seriously folks regardless of the vaccine story it is high time general awareness of HPV and Cervical Cancer were raised in Ireland. Harney's health ministry did precious little to reduce the shameful incidences of cervical cancer amongst Irish women & that meant fully grown women with fully grown wombs not the virginal twelve year olds who somehow seem to be getting all the attention on the vaccine front. I happen to think there are many other viruses which deserve research and searches for cures and effective treatments more than HPV - obviously Malaria and HIV and Denge count amongst them. But like it or not most people who read this article if they have had several sexual partners & not spent their life in celibacy or a mutually monogamous relationship have been exposed to some strain of HPV and could well still be carrying it on their private bits or in their mouth.

Can we lease get more information on the drugs we are given by the g.p.? Basically a pot noodles contains more info on the health risks involved in swallowing the stuff and on what it does to your body.
I am currently investigating the pro's and cons of taking toa free cats claw as a drug to fight lyme, a disease on the rise in Ireland. It is not part of the drugs scheme and it is very expensive as half the USA seems to order it and there is a limited stock as it is a rain forest plant. Does this cure lyme at all? does it make you feel better? Are there any side effects? No one seems to know. What I do know is that the antibiotics do not work at all and actually make you feel worse.
We need clear labeling on our pots and pills.

This article and its first comment were written not to discuss the efficacy of vaccines but to remind you of the disregard of one of Ireland's most enduring female politicians for a type of cancer which kills more Irish women per capita than any other comparable state on the human development index.

It's not economically feasible to screen women's wombs and detect a cancer before it's time to cut wombs out.

The vaccine is something else. Much comment was given to the article I wrote by one individual who would have us disregard the HPV vaccine which has or is being made available to girls throughout the EU. I suppose similar style comments will be made when the vaccine against the cold-sore which is suspected to be linked to Alzheimer's becomes available. (c/f a health science and economy update which occured since I obliquely touched the link between herpes simplex and Alzheimer's above http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7770680.stm Considering that 80% of the sexually active (whatever that means & alas it is not a morality thing) in the EU and the USA carry some form of HPV or Herpes Labial Simplex (either visible or invisible genital warts or cold-sores) we can be pretty sure both people in the photo had a viral contagion issue.

They also had a political party.
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/76815

Oh Yes - medical advances & especially those which have won the last few year's awards such as the Nobel mentioned in the article above - have seemed to incline to the prognostic rather than cure. It is perhaps an oddly occidental scientific period of the philosophy of medicine which since the rennaisance has steered away from the holistic to reductionist "mending or replacing" approach to disease. By that I hope you to agree that we are learning more about how we may die than we are seeing capitalist attention and financial incentive directed to those gaps between cure; R&D, product development & global distribution . This is simply not because in the language of Warty Harney such capitalism would be profitable - but because other things take priority.

As I tried to express in the article and some of the comments I left since - it is vital for all people on the left: anarchistic, alternative, socialist or whatever - to understand the role of capitalism in health : not only the waiting lists but the services which make it onstream to "consumer" or "patient" expectation.

There are excellent reasons to sign the petition.

There are wonderful reasons to call Mary Harney Warty & remind ourselves of that chance.

But in the meantime - most citizens will go without many proven effective screening processes to fight cancer, long before they even had to be on a waiting list. We are not just talking about warts you can see, warts you can't see, cold-sores you can see and those hidden from contagious view by pharaceutical wizardry. We are talking about how we ,as humanity, have the scientific ability not hyopthetical potential to offer early treatments on most forms of cancer; lung, breast, prostrate, colon, skin, cervical, kidney.

We also have the ability to stop malaria.

But somehow we know that when simple little things like the HPV vaccine, which as is hoped was explained above does not go as far as is believed to preventing cervical cancer or blocking the myriad other HPV umbrella of infections are stopped in the name of financial rectitude then we're not getting screening for leukemia or lymphatic cancer.

We're not even getting dialysis.

What is the point in 80% of you knowing you carry HPV and are RICH if you can't enjoy a health service which priortises the stuff you won't ask your VHI private consultant to suss out for you?

of course you could always rely on the chaps to wash in vinegar.
