Orchestra-in-Donegal-Residency

The Spanish String Orchestra Concerto Málaga has been appointed “Orchestra-in-Donegal-residency” in County Donegal/Ireland. The residency starts in November 2008.
Founded in 1996, this brilliant string ensemble, conducted by the renowned Italian Maestro Massimo Paris, will work closely with the community across the county, focusing on the key areas of performance, musical education and instrumental tuition.
This innovative project is promoted by the County Donegal VEC Music education Partnership, Donegal County Council and the collaboration of the Junta the Andalucía.

Music from the Italian and the Spanish tradition
The Spanish string orchestra Concerto Málaga appears for the first time in Ireland. The ensemble, conducted by the renowned Italian Maestro Massimo Paris, will perform pieces by Rossini, Paisiello, Albéniz and the program will also include the premier in Ireland of Rolla’s Divertimento in F Major for viola and strings with Massimo Paris playing his legendary viola by Pietro Guarneri, made in Mantua in 1697.

The Educational Concerts of Concerto Málaga are designed to introduce secondary school students to orchestral music. There will be two concerts held for secondary schools’s students and teachers at the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny.

Music from the Italian and the Spanish tradition
The Spanish string ensemble Concerto Málaga conducted by the renowned Italian Maestro Massimo Paris will perform pieces from the Italian and the Spanish tradition by Rossini, Paisiello, Rolla, Albéniz, Mascagni and Bizet. Massimo Paris will be soloist playing his legendary viola by Pietro Guarneri, made in Mantua in 1697. They will be joined on stage by students from the Donegal Chamber Orchestra.
