Dublin Shell to Sea are calling on people to attend a protest at the GPO at 2pm Saturday in solidarity with the people of Erris and Maura Harrington on hunger strike.
The past few weeks have seen heightened tensions and actions against Shell and their partners in Erris. There have been protests, arrests, Garda brutality and continued abuse of the Erris community.
On Tuesday the Solitaire arrived in Broadhaven Bay and was met with resistance including lock ons, fishermen on the waters and Maura Harrington embarking on a hunger strike which she vows to continue until the Solitaire leaves Irish waters. In response the Solitaire was allegedly damaged on Wednesday before it began its work. It is currently sitting in Killybegs and the Shell propaganda machine and our politicians are silent.
The events of the last couple of days are critical and Dublin Shell to Sea are encouraging people to come to the GPO on Sat the 13th of September at 2PM in solidarity with the community in Erris and in particular Maura Harrington who continues her hunger strike. We are calling on individuals, groups and political parties to stand together and demand that Irish Natural Resources are used safely and with community consent for all the people of Ireland.
