![]() Say it loud, "I'm mad and I'm proud". That's the message of Mad Pride, the first event of its type to be held in Ireland, on Sunday, June 8 in Fitzgerald's Park, Cork. The brainchild of John McCarthy, a Cork-based campaigner for the rights of people suffering from mental illness, "Mad Pride" aims to dispel commonly held misconceptions about mental illness. The current Met forecast http://www.met.ie/ is looking good! Sunny and 20 degrees plus in the South. John MacCarthy's own blog http://madpride.wordpress.com/ is the best guide to what is actually booked and confirmed for the day - as one radio interview put it, "a festival like Gay Pride to promote diversity and tolerance", so it has to happen before we know.
Well done on organising this - we want one in Galway next!
