92 years ago, the British government murdered James Connolly for his participation in the anti-Imperialist rebellion of 1916. Shot while tied to a chair by a firing squad. He was a founding member of the Labour Party and a member of its executive when he was shot.
The Labour Party is commemorating his legacy at Arbour Hill cemetery this Wednesday 14th May at 1pm, with an oration from both Party Leader Eamon Gilmore and SIPTU President Jack O'Connor at the graveside.
