Taoiseach will explain his part in peace process- no other political parties invited
Bertie Ahern is scheduled to make a major speech at the Global Irish Institute, University College Dublin, this Thursday at 11AM. The conference is timed to mark the tenth anniversary of thew Good Friday Agreement, but while number one Bertie apologist Martin Mansergh TD will be there, no other Irish Political Parties have been invited to speak.
British Minister Shaun Woodward will be the special guest speaker at the conference (although there is a rumour it might be someone else - Royal Visit maybe?)
The conference starts at 9 with registration (click on the link for a registration form) and Bertie will speak at 11AM. Straight after there will be a coffee break, and presumably the Taoiseach will pose for pictures.
The idea is quite obviously to present Bertie as a major statesman who brought about peace in our time.
It would be highly embarrassing if people went along to the photo-op and held up signs saying RESIGN or stood outside during the speech shouting it at the tops of their voices.
Sessions take place in the Global Irish Institute (which used to be the UCD Industry Centre).
