How I won the War- Bertie Ahern to make major speech at UCD

category national | miscellaneous | event notice author Tuesday April 01, 2008 20:51author by Martin Madhead Report this post to the editors

Taoiseach will explain his part in peace process- no other political parties invited

Bertie Ahern is scheduled to make a major speech at the Global Irish Institute, University College Dublin, this Thursday at 11AM. The conference is timed to mark the tenth anniversary of thew Good Friday Agreement, but while number one Bertie apologist Martin Mansergh TD will be there, no other Irish Political Parties have been invited to speak.

British Minister Shaun Woodward will be the special guest speaker at the conference (although there is a rumour it might be someone else - Royal Visit maybe?)
Bertie Ahern single-handedly ended 800 years of conflict in Ireland
Bertie Ahern single-handedly ended 800 years of conflict in Ireland

The conference starts at 9 with registration (click on the link for a registration form) and Bertie will speak at 11AM. Straight after there will be a coffee break, and presumably the Taoiseach will pose for pictures.

The idea is quite obviously to present Bertie as a major statesman who brought about peace in our time.

It would be highly embarrassing if people went along to the photo-op and held up signs saying RESIGN or stood outside during the speech shouting it at the tops of their voices.

Sessions take place in the Global Irish Institute (which used to be the UCD Industry Centre).

Wasnt it Bertie who dropped the Capital Gains Tax from 40% to 20%? Combine that with a tax loop hole which allows developers to avoid paying Stamp Duty on purchased land and the low interest rates of the last decade and we had the scene set for one of the biggest scams in economic history. A country 4% urbanised with some of the highest land prices in Europe??? Free Market my ass.

Bertie was told by the AG that the Kenny Report (which recommended that zoned land by limited in price to its agricultural price plus 25%) could be implimented without a constitutional ammendment. This would have avoided the misery now faced by tens of thousands of Irish citizens. It would also have avoided the Irish landlords making obscene fortunes literally overnight. Naturally Bertie sided with the Landlord class against the Irish people.
