What: Photo Exhibit: Education Under Occupation (Runs 7th - 11th April)
Where: The Atrium, Trinity College, Dublin
When: Mon 7th - Fri 11th April, from 9am - 5pm daily
In 2005, student photographers from Birzeit (Ramallah) and An-Najah (Nablus) Universities came together to work on the Right to Education Photography Project. They documented student life and the obstruction of Palestinian education under military occupation, through the artistic expression of their own ideas and experiences.
Besides capturing the major obstacles to pursuing an education in occupied Palestine - including routine harassment and arrest of students by Israeli soldiers and the daily struggle to reach school and university under a regime of military checkpoints - the photos in this exhibition touch on themes such as isolation, poverty, resistance, absent classmates and student prisoners.
