Did anyone notice that on Monday when Israel imposed its closure of the borders with Gaza

that the number of KASSAM rockets fired into Israel dropped drastically -so Israel then

senT more food and other supplies in to Gaza ?

"Babs," not the case, but even if Israel were attacked with a blizzard of Qassem rockets, it is not within its ambit, under any circumstances, to visit collective punishment - the human rights group Al-Haq puts the present travails of Palestine in perspective (and further back when the EU withdrew aid as punishment for Palestinians democratically electing Hamas to power) : "This is the first time in history that sanctions have been imposed on the victims of an oppressive regime rather than on the regime itself"

I suggest it was'nt the humanitarian concerns of Israel but the growing outrage of the world that stimulated this rogue state to put its criminality in abeyance for the while, cynically lift the blockade for things to simmer down and then renew, "The obliteration of an entire people by slow systematic methods of suffocation, outright murder and the stifling of everyday life" (Edward Said)." For after all,
The Palestinians... "are beasts walking on two legs" (Israeli PM, Menachem Begin) and “Cockroaches in a glass jar” (Rafael Eytan, Israeli Chief of Staff) and now 60 years after founding PM, David Ben-Gurion's chilling, May 1948, exhortation to the Israeli General Staff : "We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population." the world now finds that Israel has added; starvation, collective punishment, "targeted" murder, denial of medicine and medical treatment, etc to its terror arsenal.

Shame on you! Shame on Israel!

Thanks Michael,

The protest looks pretty robust. Well done to all involved.

Lets hope it had some effect on the vegetables inside the big house.

I wish I had been there! This was clearly an impressive demo, with a great mixture of people. Michael D. Higgins deserves honorary citizenship of whatever Palestinian "entity" emerges.

It's only a pity that Michael D's Labour Party will be encouraging people to support the Lisbon Treaty, even though it will lead to more centralisation of EU power and mean that Irish governments in the future will posses even less ability to be a voice for support for Palestine.

....all support is very welcome, but don't you think you are going a tiny bit overboard?

Where was the 'left' and the youth of the Labour party that day? Now that I think of it, where was the 'left'?

The Labour Party are and have been for a long time being run by a bunch of hypocrites.

Richard Boyd Barrett spoke at the rally -and as usual, very well to- will we make him an honorary citizen too?

Before any of you accuse me of being a member of the SWP...your wrong and you don't know me.

I dont want to see either RBB or MDH attacked here. Its about opposing Israeli Imperialist aggression. Lets concentrate on that.

Some Resistance news:

Palestinian resistance fighters opened fire on the Ras Hamis checkpoint near the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem, killing an Israeli border guard. He has been named as twenty-year-old Rami Zuhari from Be'er Sheva. A female soldier was also seriously injured in the attack, Israeli sources said.

An Israeli army spokesman said the attackers were able to escape, despite an extensive search by Israeli helicopters.

A previously unknown organization, the Return and Struggle Brigades affiliated to the Al-Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Fatah, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it marks the start of a forthcoming series of resistance action. The Brigades confirmed that the attackers managed to flee, taking the dead soldier's weapon.

Jenin – Ma'an – The military wing of Islamic Jihad, the Al-Quds Brigades, claimed responsibility on Friday for detonating an explosive device near an Israeli intelligence patrol in Qabatya south of Jenin.

The incident occured as Israeli forces stormed the town on Friday morning.

A Brigades spokesman said the activists detonated the explosive device as the patrol passed by.

The brigades said that the operation was in retailation for the assassination of Brigades leader in the West Bank, Walid Al-Ubeidi who was killed in clashes with Israeli forces earlier this week.

Eyewitness said violent clashes took place between Al-Quds Brigades fighters and Israeli forces.

Patc,

Everey body lost there, in the violent fatal resistance against Israeli police personnel. What happened there is the uglier side of the conflict. The non fatal resistance of the wall breach in Rafah had a thousand times more impact for the Palestinians and not a hair on a head was harmed.

This is the way forward for resistance, dont you agree ?
