Plastic bag levy fund decision criticised

The Government has been severely criticised for announcing it will use money raised by the plastic bag levy on road construction rather than putting it into an environment fund as promised. Irish environmental non-Government organisations described the move as "an outrage and a kick in the teeth for both the environment and the Government's own claimed policy on sustainability and support for environmental action".
