What is the point of being a professional? It ensures a certain status, it usually requires many years of training and professionals are
held in higher esteem and trust than a common or garden lay person. When the professional is an obstetrician the majority of women feel confident that they are the best people to approach when they are pregnant and are confident that the information they give is accurate and without bias. A book written by an obstetrician, therefore, would have a certain cachet.
