Former US Vice President and Nobel Prizewinner, Al Gore, will address the Merrion Capital Energy and Environment conference at the Royal College of Surgeons, St Stephens Green.

All groups and individuals concerned about tara and the M3, and the interlinked issues of sustainability, environment and climate change are invited to attend a rally outside the event, commencing at 9am and continuing throughout the day

The desecration of tara in order to facilitate the construction of the M3, is the most stark example of Ireland's disastrous policies when it comes to transport, sustainability and the protection of heritage and environment.

Ireland's irreplaceable heritage is being destroyed for a project that is at odds with any stated commitments to reduce carbon emissions. Around the country, billions of euro are being poured into roads infrastructure, while our public transport systems remain in a state of neglect. Current transport policy would see four motorways running through Co. Meath, while the Dublin-Navan rail link is a long way off.

A European Commission report, just published, has revealed that Ireland's carbon emissions are set to be 22.6% above 1990 levels. The same report also shows that Ireland is set to overshoot it's Kyoto targets by almost 100%.

The rally on Saturday aims to highlight such inconvenient truths. Please bring along banners, flags, signs, leaflets etc
