Deploring the way in which the women have been treated subsequent to these disclosures, including the failure to provide adequate counselling for those who have had to undergo surgery and the fact that women who had undergone scans first heard on news bulletins that they might be recalled;

Unfortunately the Labour Party too is infected with whats the real cause of the problem: neoliberal economics.
Humans are social creatures. The neoliberal, Anglo-American economic philosophy to which Harney adheres destroys society. Harney's role model, Thatcher, said that society does not exist. The powerful political, economic pressure to commodify everything destroys society. Privatisation and the 'free market' fetish is unhealthy. Harney has an unhealthy and destructive economic phlosophy.
So the debacle in the health service is not just a question of administration and management. P.D/FF have been in control of the health service for 10 years or more. The HSE is an attempt to shift responsiblity and accountability away from the political process. We know where the buck stops even if Beal Bocht Bertie has stuffed all the dollars in his shoebox.
Harney, imbued with a philosophy which devalues the public sphere,-the 'res publica',-is ill equipped to ensure that the peoples resources are used effectively and efficiently. Because of her ideological blinkers she is incapable of that most basic republican virtue: the capacity to know what should be private and what should be in the public sphere. Harney is using state power to commercialize essential public services, to make health a commodity. Hence the current grotesque scene.
Removing Harney will not be helpful if her successor is also a carrier of the same ideological sickness. The 'Americanization' of public health has not worked very well in the U.S: the infant mortality rate in Harlem is higher than in Cuba, and this is despite health care expenditures being 16% of GDP and rising. 40 million Americans have no health insurance. Stop Harney and her ilk before they do more damage.
Another world is possible but only by extirpating from the body politic the neoliberal sickness.
Dublin City Council management is actively engaged in attempts to suppress the right of people to peacefully assemble in opposition to the current health crisis.
These rights gauranteed under the Irish Constitution, the Litter Pollution Act 1997 and international law are been ignored by Dublin City Council whose employees paid by us the taxpayers are been instructed to take down posters about Wednesday's peaceful assembly calling for Mary Harney to resign as Minister for Health.
The protest is taking place at 6 pm outside the Dáil on Wednesday.
Harney was effectively voted out of office as Minister for Health by the Irish people when the PDs returned with only two seats at the last general election. However it suits the interests of Fianna Fail to have Harney as Minister for Health so that she can act as a scapegoat for public anger over the governments healthcare privatisation and lack of provision of healthcare for all.
It is for this reason that the Fianna Fail leadership is so desperate to keep Harney in office.
Defend the right to freedom of assembly - come to the protest outside the Dáil on Wednesday at 6pm
Harney Must go - posters are been removed by Dublin City Council
This issue of DCC removing notices of public meetings and assembly has been dealt with. There is a protocol that the groups or individuals involved, inform DCC that they will be placing such notices on public property, but the principle was conceded in full, through a motion from Councillor Joan Collins that DCC willl adhere to Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
That Article is a legal guarantee that states will not interfere with "Freedom of Expression" and the right to "..impart information without interference by Public Authority". The article is enforceable in the national courts and such a case against DCC and it's Law Agent Terence O'Keffe should be pursued by LY. It's a dead cert to win and woud put the cat among the pigeons.
PS: Ask Dermot Lacey what the F k is going on,he is always asserting his oppossition to this issue but best of all, bring them to court, stiched in with the Harney health issue your guaranteed a storm of publicity and that is one thing the forces of darkness will squirm at.
All the best, JK
I mean who the hell cares? Its not our fault Labour Youth can't do a bit of research, find out the DCC bye laws and abide by them, i mean they only have 12 Cllrs on the City Council
FF are not desperate to have Harney so much as the PDs and their powerful business backers are desperate to keep her in position. See here:

DCC are suppressing the rights of citizens of this country. It should not be tolerated. The Labour Party members that sit on the council should do something about it.
Green Pat, I have noticed many other posters/public meeting notices in Dublin staying up in recent months eg SP, SWP meetings on Nuke Power, Che Guevera, Leon Trotsky, Hugo Chavez, Enviornment etc but the L Y posters "Harney Must Go" did come down with alacrity, overnight, too close to the bone for freedom of expression I suppose, quite disgraceful.
Me doubts that the varieties of self styled Trotskyite groups were busy sticking to the DCC Bye Laws !
