Smoggie Queens shows how far BBC comedy has fallen, says Steven Tucker. Let's be honest, there's only one reason the corporation made this awful TV programme, and it's certainly not because it's funny.

category galway | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Monday October 22, 2007 12:35author by Doesnt matter... Report this post to the editors

Please the following update on Amnsety's parade:

We are calling volunteers to support us in our parade which will take placeon Wed. 31st October (Halloween). The parade will be used to highlight the horrifying legislation that the Bush Administration has enacted as part of it's War on Terror campaign. For full impact the parade will now take place at 1pm only. Starting at Eyre Square to Spanish Arch. We will be enacting the scene of Guantánamo detainees, being marched blind folded and shackled by the U.S Army. We will be showing the film 'Road to Guantanamo' on Wednesday 24th Octoberat 6.30pm, in the Amnesty International Shop 2-3 Middle Street. For all volunteers wishing to take part in the parade on Wednesday 31stOctober, we request they attend a briefing meeting on TUESDAY 30th Octoberat 6.30pm, again in the Amnesty International Shop (address as above). Please contact Jameen Kaur on jkaur@amnesty.ie or 091 533 637 if you cannot make this meeting, or have any questions on any of the above. We would like to thank all of you that have shown their support in participating in this action, it promises to be a great event.

We have two messages: Defining the WAR on TERROR can be TORTURE. 5 YEARS is enough- Close downGuantánamo and other secret detention centres. rendition = TORTURE = SECRECY = KIDNAPPING =ILLEGAL= COLLUSION= TERROR The council of Europe has identified Ireland as a probable stopover pointfor aircraft linked to abductions. In at least one case Shannon was used asa stop over for a CIA flight returning to the US after an abduction.Ireland must NO LONGER rely on foreign state's promises. The government should set up an inquiry into Ireland's laws and procedures in granting flight clearances. IRELAND and EUROPE must say never again to allowing rendition flights to take place in Europe.
