Drop Food Not Bombs !
Yesterday, Galway Food Not Bombs offered fresh organic vegetarian food to Galwegians again. But what's even more important, new ideas were realized and more activists recruited in the form of Gala, a FNB activist from New York city and Qanita, a Pakistani woman, living in Galway, who after contacting us, kindly showed up with her own home-cooked traditional Pakistani food and two young sons to dispense it. Qanita was pleased and excited with the idea of Food Not Bombs and promised to join us every Sunday.
Together with Qanita we have developed the innovative idea of doing free traditional Indian and Pakistani food cooking classes on the street. This idea is still under discussion, but we expect to be able to start doing the business in two weeks time.
Gala, the American FNB activist enlightened us of the fact that New York FNB don't cook the food in situ as we do and further enlightened us of her surprise at the broad spectrum on different nationalities and social classes that attend our field kitchen - seems New York has a contender for the title of the World's Melting Pot?.
