Speaking on the film, National Organiser of Ógra Shinn Féin Barry McColgan said,
“The film traces Irish Republican Youth from the formation of Na Fianna in 1909 until the modern day activism of Ógra. It traces the role youth played through significant dates and events in Irish history, it also notes some of the campaigns that Ógra have been involved in from their formation in 1997.”
“I would encourage everyone to view the film. It is not intended to give a definitive history of the of Republican Youth, but only a brief overview of their role in struggle throughout the last century, and it is hoped it will bring greater interest to the struggle to as many people as possible.”

Any OSFers care to comment?
Na Fianna came to an end in 1992, Ógra Shinn Féin are the only Republican Youth Movement who are actively campaigning on Republican and Socialist issues.
Great video by the way, never mind the comments above.
Why should people disregard my comment? it was merely an historical question.
I was led to believe that people resigned en masse from na Fianna Eireann, and before 1992.
Since you mention it though, why was Na Fianna disbanded in 1992? as you say it was.
What are Ogra doing regarding anti-social behaviour and drug dealing in Nationalist areas? Waiting for SF to put manners in the RUC /PSNI perhaps?
Does this film mention the guy who fell off the roof some weeks back, during the 'anti-sectarian' act of resistance?
If so i'll take a dozen.
Hi !
Myself and other republicans were proud to march beside uniformed members of Na Fianna Eireann only last August (19th) in Crumlin , Dublin . They are not only still in existence , but are active , well-disciplined and organised .
Sharon.
Na Fianna Eireann in Bodenstown .
I've just watched what they claim to be a history of youth in the struggle. Watch it for yourself and you'll see a mishmash of images which jump from 1916 /1922 to 1969, Bloody Sunday, the Hunger Strikes, elections right into a series of shots showing Ogra and their various meaningless protests, clapping and speeches.
It was probably made in Derry and I sure as hell learnt nothing about Na Fianna and those who died during it's history except for a few names at the end.
To ask for £5.00 plus £2.50 for what amounts to a few minutes of Republican history and a wedding video of Ogra, is undoubtedly brassed-necked.
Don't take my word for it, click on their link and watch it yourself.
No bother Tic Tac just working on a full feature length film now detailing every single aspect of Republican Youth and working on a huge budget of a gizzillion pound.
Seriously thought,
"It is not intended to give a definitive history of the of Republican Youth, but only a brief overview of their role in struggle throughout the last century,"
I await your contribution to the film world, and by the way over 1000 people already bought the film. Brass necks indeed???
Ógra Ken Loach
'The Winf That Shakes The Tic Tac'
I don't know what pipe the above people are smoking but I think this is a great short piece of agi-prop. Serves the purpose well.
Great work!
Er, Ken Loach or Barry or whatever, I noticed a spot about Political Policing, banners waving in the air and all that razzmatazz.
Didn't your leadership tell us that we should support that Political Police Force who in the past have colluded with Loyalist killers?
Didn't they announce boldly that they would put manners in them?
Why didn't I see any slots about drug dealers and anti-social behaviour or will you be dealing with that later?
If a 1,000 people bought that video then it proves one thing, there is one born every minute.
If any one has tackled anti-social and drug pushers it has been the Republican Movement, Sinn Féin, Ógra and various community activists who support it.
Who has done more than them?
Please tell us tic tac, activist wise and community wise, what is it that your doing that we are not doing?
The Republican Movement might have in the past tackled Drug Dealers and the anti-social scum who plague our communities but since they became part of the system they have abandoned the people and are now more worried about keeping on the right side of the DUP.
I am an individual and do not pretend to be an elected representative of the people. I have not seen Gerry Adams nor Martin McGuinness on the streets calling the people out to confront these scumbags. I have not announced boldly that I would be "Putting manners in the PSNI" who turn a blind eye to these scumbags.
Since the ceasefires anti-social behaviour and drug dealing have spiralled out of control, even Republicans are forced to clench their teeth and suffer at the hands of these scumbags so as not to incur the wrath of Paisley. Is this progress? No it's called being under the cosh
I notice that Ken Loach has remained silent on my question regarding this issue.
the provisional movement is not the Republican Movement.
It is not accurate to Sinn Fein are simply no longer challenging anti-social behaviour / hoods / drug dealers.
In the west of Belfast they as good as sponsered the gang of hoods who wrecked the place.
I agree, in the area where I come from, when a crowd of residents came out to challenge a family of hoods who had attacked numerous people for kicks and terrorised the community, the Shinners appeared on the scene and were more concerned with stopping the people attacking the hoods in case they got the blame for attacking them and were kicked out of Stormont.
Now where did I hear that before???
Perhaps OSF could remind us what their position was, and is, on the acceptance of British Policing in Ireland? They were fundamentally opposed to it but if the majority of delegates at the Special Ard Fheis voted in favour they wouldn't be fundamentally opposed to it.
Its a great video.
