Statoil's continued support for Corrib scheme shames Norway
A scheme like the one that Shell are trying to force on the people of Erris would never be allowed to go ahead in Norway. Statoil pride themselves on working closely with communities, and as a state company, some of their profits are going to pay for pensions, schools, hospitals etc in Norway, so to some extent they are working for the public good.
Of course none of this applies in Ireland- here the people will gain next to nothing from the Corrib scheme, and those who stand against it are beaten and imprisoned.
So today, some Shell to Sea activists gave out info to people passing the Norwegian Embassy and the Passport Office in Molesworth Street Dublin, encouraging people to take out Norwegian citizenship. It's the only way that Irish people can profit from Corrib gas...
Shell to Sea will also have a stall at the Cool Earth Fair in Dun Loaghaire, as part of the multi cultural festival at the weekend 25/26th August. There will be plenty of t-shirts, books, and leaflets- plus forms for becoming a Norwegian citizen!

some Sinn Fein activists is what it looks like. Fair play to them, as all involved with the campaign. Would it not function better however as one, united front? I don't mean to take away from the action of those pictured, I've no problem with their own movement, but surely its not a "shell to sea' action as such?
Not everyone there was from Sinn Fein, and though a lot of those present were, it was a Shell to Sea protest, advertised in advance as such on the Shell to Sea website and other places. Any supporter of the campaign was welcome. Maybe you should come along to the next one.
Laudatory comment in the account of the festival in the Irish Times yesterday. Well done!
