protest the giveaway of Ireland's natural resources

There will be a Shell to Sea Protest at the Norwegian Embassy, 34 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2, on Thursday August 23rd at 1.00 PM

Shell to Sea will be holding a short protest at the Norwegian Embassy, Molesworth Street Dublin (near the Passport Office) on Thursday at lunchtime, to highlight the fact that Norwegian citizens will see much more benefit from the Corrib Gas Field than the people of Ireland.

The event is also to publicise the fact the Shell to Sea will have an information stall as part of the Cool Earth Fair in the Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures this weekend (Sat and Sun 25/26th August). To highlight Statoil involvement in the Corrib Scheme, the campaign will have a Norwegian-themed stall, with leaflets outlining how people can apply for Norwegian citizenship.

Through governement ownership of Statoil, the Norwegian people will own 25% of Corrib gas. The people of Ireland own zero per cent.

A scheme like the Rossport/Bellanaboy pipeline and refinery project would not be allowed in Norway for health, safety and community consent reasons. Nevertheless the Irish government insists that the scheme must go through.

Here in Ireland we will see no lasting benefit from the exploitation of our own oil and gas. However the government of Norway has managed to make sure that that oil and gas revenues will help that country long into the future. People who have protested against the scheme on environmental, health and safety, or political grounds have been persecuted by the Gardaí and many now face prison sentences.

Glad to see S2S hitting the project where it will hurt.

Norway is now linked to human rights abuses.

Do the Norwegian people know what is being done in their name?

Also, they are collaborating with Shell, probably the biggest environmental vandal in the world.
