On Saturday the 11th of August the UK Police stated that they would use anti-terrorist
legislation to break the Heathrow Climate Change Camp, since then they have
placed a press embargo on the camp and refused toilet and hygeine facilities to the
protestors.

The indymedia.org.uk site is covering on features and the Guardian has interviewed
a cross- section of protestors opposed to the airport expansion.

Thus far protestors have been arrested without charging and denied legal advice.
The Guardian covers the issue from the local residents viewpoint and has interesting interviews
with the activists who range from a vicar to womble activists!

The Metropolitian Police have stopped water and hygeine facilites being delivered to camp
and of course arrested and detained activists under watered down anti-terrorist legislations.
The photos at link show the camp, the equipment used by cops and the proximity to the
airport. The recording tech is 'Sony', but the activists must take some little comfort from
their presence, given the authorities laxity in the Ukraine recently where an anti-globalisation
activist was murdered by invading right -wing gangs, who had been given carte Blanche by
the authorities to subject NVDA activists to violence and beating.

The newswire on UK is covering the arrest of one protestor under anti-terrorism laws,
the UK metropolitian police did press-release last saturday that they would arrest
climate camp activists under these laws.

The feature column has updates on actions today, but unfortunately no images yet of the
six people who superglued their hands to the doors of the London Transport offices
and after peeling off by paramedic the banner jump.

There is a longish piece on the http://www.indymedia.org.uk newswire
regarding the use of anti-terrorist laws against the Climate Camp at Heathrow
The Met have employed a tower (crane) and legislations against
the activists who are occupying just under a week in protest at the expansion of the
Heathrow Facility.

The report is at link:-

http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2007/08/378725.html

The feature article has images of the superglue episodes at XL, this was begun on Thursday by
a female activist who superglued her body to the access gates at the terminal, six people folowed
suit the following day and then did a banner drop whilst paramedics were 'separating' them
from the glass doorways.

[interesting description of monbiot in the body of the article for monbot watchers]

The London Metropolitan Police released last week statements that they would use
anti-terrorist legislation againsy NVDA protestors and normalised their response by
using the national media to issue the threats. The mainstream have been covering all week,
it is most likely the first time that the UK government has allowed an overt threat against
activists to be used in such a situation in such a 'public' fashion. Normalising
these responses to conscientious objection can be brought down many routes and
was probably most evident in the Phillipines when network media telecast live the
brutal massacre of prisoners under the Arroyo regime creating TV consumption 'highs'.
