Statement from the tara 4

category meath | environment | news report author Tuesday July 24, 2007 09:40author by Bleepy Report this post to the editors

Statement read outside CloverHill Prison on Sat 21st July by Con Connor - Spiritual Advisor to the tara 4.

Con read this statement shortly after visiting with Dan, JP, Robert and Andy. The 4 men are doing good, but want to stress how badly more people are needed at the site on the Hill Of tara, especially in their absence. Please consider taking some time from your daily routine and stand up for your right to hold onto the most culturally significant land on our island.

Thanks

Shane

Was the statement approved by the lads in prison?

Do they all know and accept that Con is their 'Spiritual Advisor'?

What about the other 3? - Who is their 'Spiritual Advisor'?

Con visited.
got a statement.
which he read.
now- the guys do not have the 'right of reply' (due to being incarcerated) thus- 'respect their wishes'

Thats what the report says. Thats what happens. Prisoners have rights.
Their statement was 'read' -as written by them.

Respect Prisoners rights!

This is a statement from the Tara 4 in Cloverhill prison, 21st july 2007

We consider that the proposal to build a 4 lane motorway, including a massive interchange, within 1200 metres of the hill of Tara to be a crime against the culture, heritage and history of our people, a whole landscape of an area of unparalleled and irreplacable importance to all the people of this island. These foolish thinking men with political power and corruptions who will inflict this wound on the most important symbol of our civilisation and identity will be damned by their actions. that they would willfully ignore the will of the people of this island in an attempt to proceed with this plunder says as much about the health of our democracy and our society. That those who peacefully resist this desecration and illegality should be locked up as common criminals is a testament to the potency of the importance of this struggle and says how much those in power fear. We call on all people of goodwill, all people who value ideals, not measured in monitary terms, all people who know that after this reverpacious(muffled?) creed has passed, we will be left with nothing but our heritage and identity upon which to rebuild. We call upon all of you to stand by us, we call upon all politicians, north and south, to support our actions, we call on you all to make a sand now for beauty and truth, against greed and corruption, to stand shoulder to shoulder in the defense of Tara.

Please find improved layout below for this historic statement.

Statement from the Tara Four Prisoners: intended to be read out publicly.

Send to others please on their behalf.

===============

We consider the proposal to build a four-lane motorway, including a  massive interchange, within 1200mts of the Hill of Tara to be a crime against the culture, heritage and history of our people. The Tara landscape is an area of unparalleled and irreplaceable importance to all the people of this island.

These foolish, greedy men with political power and corrupt influence, who would inflict this wound on the most important symbol of our civilization and identity, will be damned by their actions.

That they would wilfully ignore the will of the people of this island and attempt to proceed with this plunder says much about the health of our democracy and of our society.

That those who peacefully resist this desecration and illegality should be locked up as common criminals is a testament to the potency and importance of this struggle. And to how much those in power fear it.

We call on all people of goodwill, all people who value ideals not measured in monetary terms, all people who know that after this rapacious greed has passed we will be left with nothing but our heritage and identity upon which to rebuild, we call on all of you to stand with us.

We call on all politicians, north and south for their active support to Save Tara Valley .

To make a stand now for beauty and truth, against greed and corruption, to stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of Tara .

If these guys get no TV coverage then the stay in prison is pointless.

I blame the lack of support for the Tara protest on RTE who seem to have a blanket ban on this issue.
I have been trying myself to get on radio air waves to ask why RTE are not showing any coverage or having any debates/documentries relating to Tara.

TV, more so than the printed media, is the key to increasing support.

We should rally prominant people to get on tv to bring it home what is really happening.

I would like to start now by calling on artist, especially Irish singers and bands etc to get invoveled in the Tara issue. God knows they have made enough money over the years singing about the heroes of old.
You too Christy M, remember 'once upon a time there was, Irish ways and Irish laws'

All these singers have been at it for years, I think they owe Tara and our ancient heroic dead the right to rest in peace, not be bulldozed into the corner of a field while our moderen singers of songs stay quite.

The idea to get more artists involved is very feasible, in the past Kila members have helped out and from photos of the last march Louis le Brocquy and Anne Madden are already out doing there bit. I met them nearly 3 years ago and we discussed the role art can play in bringing about change, a report of that and other issues related to tara found at :living ( http://easa.antville.org/stories/935634/ )

Remember Carnsore
There is a precedent for Irish artists and people coming together and halting government plans...
"They're not going to give up. This country is going down the tubes. The politicians are all on the fiddle man. Big business is paying them. And the Church is the same. They say one thing, but do the opposite. They're all on the fiddle. We'll be back here next year 'cos people are never gonna find out what's really going on. If they ever did there'd be a revolution."
shouts Hiace Man

from "Making the Point"

Carnsore Point anti nuclear gigs in the 70's:
A series of free concerts were held at Carnsore Point in 1978 and 1979. Titled "Get To The Point" and "Back To The Point" respectively, the concerts were a massive success and served to bring to public notice the whole question of nuclear power in Ireland.

and there could even be a little stroll from the city up the stoney bothar, along the old royal road to get there, as mentioned here

Remember the Wood Quay occupation 1979.
We urgently need a couple of high profile figures like FX Martin (RIP) and Thomas Kinsella to take a stand this time.

I noticed today that there was a news blackout in the Irish republic today regarding the Tara campaigners - of course they are all hippies and commies.....

Of course, you realise that there is going to be 2 tolls on the route of the M3 which will cost Joe Public commuter at least 3000 Euro a year for the privalige of using it and that money will be going to a Spanish comany....... and you realise that there is a shorter cheaper route. But of course, why stand in the way of progress by asking for 3km of the route to be moved when you can simply destroy national monuments and Irish heritage forever.

It is good to see that there is people from England over there campaigning. It just goes to show how important Tara is not only to Irish people but worldwide

Also there have been Polls over the last few months, showing a majority of Irish people are oppossed to the route. And why has there not been a proper rail route sorted, there is a goods train from Naven to Dublin why not a Public train route.
Lets hope that Tara will get saved before it is too late.

A skeleton, believed to be the ancient Green Party was unearthed today at Lismullen. Archaeologists believe the Party perished after an epidemic of Compromise Virus in the early years of the 21st century. A bone which was first thought to be the jaw bone of an ass may in fact be the jaw bone of the Green Party Minister who presided over the destruction of Tara. It is hard to tell at this stage

Gormless Man, as he is known, is believed to be the missing devolutionary link in human history. Having evolved for many millions of years the species began to regress genetically around the year 2007. Gormless and his tribe went slowly crazy before their demise. They worshipped a strange God called Stable Government and became fascinated by chewing gum and litter while discussing building Nuclear Power Stations and roads through national monuments.

By 2012 the Green Party no longer existed, having been wiped out in local and national elections. Will we ever see such naieve people again?
