Critical Mass Friday 27th @ 6.30 pm, Garden of Remebrance

Calling all those who love cycling. Come take part in the Critical Mass Friday 27th @ 6.30 pm from the Garden of Remeberance. Cycles use te roads too. Join in the social afterwards in the new Seomra Spraoi. Lets make it an ongoing campaign. Cycel for the love of cycling, for the environment, to highlight the scarcity of natural resources, or to be a part of something positive. See you there and bring balloons.

Goodluck with the ride, hope to see CM Improving more and more, 30,000 in Budapest few years ago, can dublin better that, or even get close to that?

Whilst I applaud any effort to get people to cycle as opposed to using cars etc, I'm not sure holding up traffic is the way forward. I know that's not the purpose here (I think) but it serves no purpose. There is no way to make drivers more conscious or respecting of cyclists...ignorant/obnoxious people are ignorant/obnoxious not because they're in a car but because they're that way anyway. You'll never rid society of such people.

It takes a lot to encourage people to take to the streets on bicycles above cars. I cycle to work - a distance of about 7-8 miles - but if there wasn't showers in my office, I wouldn't be cycling in. Cycle lanes help as well and they're becoming more plentiful at least.

did anyone do the council bike ride, did anyone tell those people about CM, did anyone talk with or check out how and why budapest worked??

So is that it from Critical Mass? I've been looking for a post in upcoming events... nothing. looked for info on other sites and around town...nothing. Ah well there's always next year

Looks like thats it. Depsite all the talk + ideas about last month, the (sparsely populated) ride still just went around the city centre, albeit on a different route that hadnt been done before. Nothing new then = the reason it died in the first place.
