Making sure Bertie knows what's happenig in Erris

Supporters of the Shell to Sea campaign made sure to give Taoiseach Bertie Ahern up to date information when they were leafleting the crowd attending the 2007 Leinster Final at Croke Park yesterday.

Protesters against Shell's scheme in Mayo have been beaten and imprisoned, and many people believe Shell can do what they like because of the deal they made with corrupt Fianna Fáil Minister, Ray Burke. Bertie Ahern was a close colleague of Burke's at the time.

There was a generally positive response from the crowd, which included a large contingent of promotional workers from the News of the World newspaper. They expressed solidarity with the Shell to Sea campaign, and promised to come to Mayo at the earliest opportunity.

When the Toaiseach was handed his leaflet he said he was doing his best to do something about the issue, but he seemed more interested in posing for a photo with some nearby children who were also on their way to the match. It was made very clear to him that if he was concerned about the children's future as Irish citrizens, then he should be very worried about the giveaway of the natural resources of the country to companies like Shell.

Three protesters against Shell's scheme to install a giant refinery connected to the sea bed by a high pressure pipeline were jailed this week, and are now on bail while their appeal is finalised.
