Shannon was experiencing another troop surge on Sat 19 may. Protesters came from Poland, England, Cork, Galway, Dublin, and the Midwest to continue to highlight the abuse of Shannon airport by the US military.
At least four separate chartered troop carriers were at the airport, three OMNI Air Int and one North American, as well as one US military aircraft, and one Volga Dniepr cargo plane, possibly carrying military hardward.

A minutes silence was held in memory of peace activist Liz Tully who died last month, and whose peace activism was an inspiration to many. A large force of Gardai on overtime were in attendance.
A symbolic scattering of red rose petals within the terminal building let to the temporaty detention and expuslion from the building of activists, Edward Horgan and Colm Roddy. The dying red rose petals symbolised the deaths of so many innocent children in Iraq and Afghanistan.
