Cross Stitch Workshop - Free - Seomra Spraoi - 2-5pm

category dublin | arts and media | event notice author Thursday May 10, 2007 12:29author by siobhan - Magical Girlauthor email magicalgirlpromotions at gmail dot com

There is a CROSS STITCH workshop organised for this Saturday 12th May
2pm- 5pm in Seomra Spraoi.

The cost of the workshop is €0.00
(but if you could provide a donation for Seomra Spraoi that would be appreciated)

materials etc are all provided and you can take away with you whatever you make.

The workshop is going to be run by Amy who runs The Cross Bitch in the UK.
She is coming over especially to do this workshop (and to see Patti Smith on Sunday!!)

I have to be honest and say I know nothing about cross stitch -

but I was thinking if you're part of an activist group/ organisation and sometimes need placards/signs
maybe come along and cross stitch one for the next time you're protesting !!
It could look rather cool.

Or if you just want to be arty and make something pretty come along.
Whatever the reason you might want to do some cross stitch you're very welcome.

The workshop will be women only as there's only limited spaces (about 10)

cheers,
siobhan xx

Is very therapeutic.

you do not need a thimble to protect you from 'pricks' and there is a whole
lot of bitching that goes on.

go for it

Sewing circles have been known to be most dangerous.

The women of 1916 stitched their banners, programmes and underwear with symbols!

i dunno about theraputic.. i superglue clothes back together rather than get a needle and thread out...

but i'll bring a pair of knickers tomorrow and stich 'shell to sea' in them.

yeah weaving cicles were meant to be the hub of political activity..and its some ancient women's shemanic art form..

i'll remember that when im cursing the thread not going into the needle tomorrow.

After that , sure you can put shell to sea on your knickers
or anything you want on a banner.

Use you imagination.

do however mind the pricks- a little silver thimble on the tip, generally
helps with that!
