The Dublin North East Antiwar group are organising a public meeting, Thursday 15 March in the Donnycarney Community Centre, Collins Avenue, (next to church)at 8.00pm. Why the use of Shannon by US troops should be an election issue . I am still trying to confirm speakers, but two have confirmed to date - Glenda Cimino (US Citizens against the war) and Finian McGrath TD.
Please pass this around to all you can......

Can't beat the owl A4 sticky backs to get the message out.

It's the only way.

Here are the first three parts of Finian's speech. I'll post the links to the remaining three parts as soon as I can get them up on YouTube.

Any chance that there's a video of Glenda speaking? Fair play to Finian for what he said, but I'd prefer to hear what Glenda had to say, as she's a fulltime activist and in my opinion is more clued in to what's happening.

Yes, I have a video of Glenda speaking. I intend to put that video up over today and tomorrow. I'll post the links as soon as I can.

It should also be pointed out that I'm useless when it comes to video editing and the likes. Finian's and Glenda's speeches came to over half an hour, and the full video file is 1.2 GB. I have no idea how to make that smaller. That's why I had to put up Finian's speech in 6 parts. The same will also be true of Glenda's speech when that's up. Each speech averaged around 12 minutes. If it's possible to upload each speech in full to Indymedia, I will do that. Each speech would be about 600MB and is in .mpg format.

It's made from bits and floats in a fishtank (the envy of many a modder) but for what pleases the eye - was made up for on outlay spent on memory. 600mb is a very big file. Any chance of some other contributor point Daragh the way of opensource easy to use video editing software - so that these humungous video files are clipped up into more manageably & downloadable forms-. Even though it's 2007 I'm sure quite a few of us are still running systems which count themselves in "mb" and not"gb" - not least to facilitate the "dial-up" crew.

bottom line - I'd like to watch this video - but can't on my own machine & will have to go round my neighbours - "yes I'll have a cup of tea. yes I do have skins. oh I was wondering can I spend 2 hours on your putar downloading and watching a video? no it's not dirty. no it's not even vaguely titilating. Oh! I'd like to erase your adobe and most of your pdf files as well."

When the videos are watched on YouTube, the files are tiny compared to what I uploaded so it shouldn't take too long to download from there. However, I will search the web for some cool free software that allows me to shrink these pesky large files.

Here is Glenda's speech. It's in 7 parts. The total speech is about 12 to 13 minutes.

At the time of me posting this, there seems to be a problem with viewing Part 6. I'll give it a day or two, and if it still doesn't work, I'll upload it again.

Anyway, enjoy!
