The Importation of The US Prison Regime into the Phillipines

"Dylan Rodriguez Published a piece in the 'Left Curve' entitled:-
The signifance of March 15th 2005- on the Bagong Prison Massacre,
It makes difficult reading but in the Context of the London Independent
reports on Human rights abuses under the Arroyo regime, it becomes
crucial to understanding neo-colonialism and the torture of indigenous
community through the mass imobilisation of community through
the US prison system.

The same issues are arising in Oaxaca and the Ulises Ruis suppression of the

The Rodriguez report in Left Curve asserts:-

'The US prison regime as the pre-eminent global matrix for large scale human immobilisation
and punishment. First Bagong Diwa entailed a co-ordinated and public slaughter of imprisoned
human beings by a domestic police force under the open sanction of a National Government'

The UN have been examining the political murders that have occured during the
regime of the Catholic educated Ms Arroyo and found her human rights record to be
wanting.

Her achievments are listed on her website:- http://www.kgma.org

There is a good photo album.

The Karapatan site has a rather disturbing photo album which images of beaten
bodies and parents/siblings of the dissappeared demanding justice.

Do the church (Catholic) endorse the accession to power at the cost of the
indigenous moslem community and the left-wing dissenters?

The brutality of the US imported prison regime and the way the massacre
on 15th March 2005 was normalised for the general audience indicates the
beginning of a regime akin to the Pinochet regime.

The Filipina and Fillipino website has a useful information section and is worth the visit.

The UN has accused the American educated President of human rights abuses
in her native land. The Filipino diaspora has tried to highlight this issue with
western media since the accession to power of Arroyo.

How long does it take for people to note that a booming economy based
on lies and violence is a regime dedicated to self-destruction?

The Rodrguez essay mentioned above on the prison massacre and how the
mainstream media have normalised and spun this violence makes salutory
reading for everyone. It is not an accusation that the prison regime is an
imported US matrix of domination through fear- the UN report backs up the
accusations by the families of the dissappeared. The link to the report is in
the above story.
