The Thunderbirds first tour of Ireland
[The “Thunderbirds”] will be arriving in Shannon and will spend a few days in Ireland before departing for Poland on the next stage of their European tour that will also see them visit France, Italy, Rumania, Bulgaria, Turkey and the UK
The Salthill Air Show in Galway have pulled of one of the biggest coups in Aviation by announcing that the No 1 display team in the United States “The Thunderbirds” will take part in the 2007 Air Show which takes place over the weekend of the 24th of June.
The “Thunderbirds” have never been to Ireland and Salthill will be their first display in a tour that will take the team to seven other countries in Europe. When the team last appeared in Europe in 1996 3.5 million people turned out to see them and they had over 2 million at a show in Coney Island New York in 1998.

The Salthill Air Show is Irelands only FREE Air Show, now in its 15th year having started with very small beginnings with just one fishing boat and the Coastguard helicopter from Shannon. Since then it has become the biggest Show in the Country and each year attracts thousands of visitors to Salthill and Galway. The visit of the “Thunderbirds” will be the Aviation event of the year in Ireland.
