Price of Sandals Rise Again

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday July 16, 2002 16:49author by Moses of Islahara - Alliance Against Unfair Sandal Prices

When will this madness stop???

In a controversial move today, shoe manufacturers Scholl anounced a 15% rise in the price of sandals. They are blaming this rise to a fall in sales due to a wet summer. We believe Scholl are making a 70% turnover in each pair of sandals sold, which is plenty profit for such an organisation. Why do they have to pick on us, innocent Irish hippies, after the years of support we have given them.
Last week a pair of Scholl Tree-Hugger Mocasins, one of their largest sellers, retailed at €60. The same pair today will set you back €78.
Angus McLarkin, leader of Alliance Against Unfair Sandal Prices, said "Why, oh why does this madness continue. Is the world not crazy enough without rising the price of sandals. When will all this suffering end? Oh, the humanity of it all!"
The Alliance Against Unfair Sandal Prices have organised a protest march in Eyre Square this Saturday, starting from mid day.
