An independent forensic expert has said that blood on the clothes of a man who died after being in Garda custody is it not consistent with him hanging himself, as was claimed by the Garda Síochána.
Until recently the Garda Síochána refused to release the bloodstained clothes for independent forensic testing. A forensic pathologist from Britain, Dr Carl Gray who has now examined the clothes has found that there is no logical explanation for the blood on the clothing and that it wasn’t consistent with a "hanging”. He concluded that the blood on the clothing was a result of some sort of trauma.

Sean Gillane, a barrister for the family of Terence Wheelock (20) from Dublin's Summerhill, said last Thursday they received a communication from the Chief of Prosecutions to carry out a pyschological autopsey ot Terence body, and to see if any drugs were involved in his state of mind.
TWO brothers of Terence Wheelock, who died after allegedly attempting to hang himself in a garda station cell, appeared in court yesterday charged with assault and obstruction.
Gavin (18) and Laurence (32) Wheelock Jr, both of Clogher Road, Crumlin, Dublin, were charged in connection with an incident near the former family home in Sean O'Casey Avenue, Summerhill, Dublin, on May 17, 2006.
Gavin was charged with assault causing harm to a garda, while Laurence was charged with obstructing an officer in the execution of his duty.Det Garda Colm O'Malley said it was alleged a garda was punched in the face by Gavin.
Judge Patrick McMahon, after hearing an outline of the allegations, ruled it was a case suitable to be tried in Dublin District Court. He ordered that statements, custody records and video evidence be supplied to the defence in advance. He also granted free legal aid to both men.
He adjourned the case to March 16 for mention.

Why were Derek O'Toole's clothes taken from his parents after being run over by an off duty Garda in Lucan on Sunday morning?
If a Garda is involved, then the Gardai should not be investigating the crime.
Supposedly Derek O'Toole was lying on the road when he was knocked down. How can we know this is true?
How can we be sure that the Garda was not over the limit? (is it that the Gardai who did the breath test are saying that the driver had been drinking somewhat?)
