A commemorative conference and workshops to mark the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade.
February 9-10th
Conference events include a public lecture by Professor James Walvin, University of York
keynote addresses by:
Aidan McQuade, Anti-Slavery International,
Professor Luke Gibbons, Notre Dame University
Nini Rogers, Queen's University Belfast.
The conference includes a range of workshops addressing contemporary and historical manifestations of slavery - including human trafficking and reparations
These workshops will be hosted by the Africa Centre, Amnesty International Irish Section, Anti-slavery International and Trócaire.
Two educational workshops (drama and SESE) will be hosted by St. Patrick's College.
